About Body Lift

There are a variety of body lift procedures available. It all depends on which is best for you and what your problem areas are. It can include the abdomen, thighs, buttock, back, flanks and even the arms. Often patients will have the lower body done and then the upper body at a separate time or vice versa.

Initial Consultation

During your initial consultation with Mr Ritz, he will discuss the procedure with you, pre operatively, what happens during the surgery and your post operative care, and any risks or complications involved, there are risks associated with any surgery no matter how big or small, it is important you are aware of them and understand them. He will ask you questions about your medical history including any medications you may be taking. Body lift surgery is a big procedure and patients need to fully understand what is involved. Patients often need to have blood tests prior, along with a consultation with the anaesthetist or a physician if required.

You will have another consultation about 2 weeks prior to your procedure, to discuss the surgery again and answer any further questions you may have.

During the surgery

On the day you will admit to the hospital 2 hours prior to surgery. You will be marked either prior to arriving at the hospital or the night before. Mr Ritz will see you again along with the anaesthetist. Once the procedure is finished you will be in recovery for a while before heading back to the ward.

Recovery

You are required to be in hospital approximately 7 days.

Post operative care

You are unable to drive for the first 2 weeks, you are also limited with physical activity, including heavy lifting and going to the gym for at least 6 weeks. You are required to come in for dressings regularly over the first 4 weeks.
