Fat Transfer can be performed in a number of areas. It can be used to correct defects and also be used to augment certain areas of the body. Most areas can be fat grafted, it is often used in breast reconstruction patients who have had a mastectomy or lumpectomy, to give better shape and fullness, it can be used in liposuction patients who need areas filled to create better symmetry, it can be used to correct congenital deformities such as Poland’s syndrome.
During your initial consultation with Mr Ritz, he will discuss the procedure with you, pre operatively, what happens during the surgery and your post operative care, and any risks or complications involved, there are risks associated with any surgery no matter how big or small, it is important you are aware of them and understand them. He will discuss the area that you need done and then look at where the fat can be taken from. It is removed via liposuction and then injected back in with a syringe. You will be required to wear compression garments post operatively to ensure the best result.
