Enhancing your breast assets: augmentation & lifting

Breast Enlargement Melbourne

Saggy-baggies. Mosquito bites. Knee-knockers. Deflated balloons.

The female breast comes in all shapes and sizes and there are many reasons why women choose to undergo breast enhancement surgery. Today there are many choices available for enhancing your breast assets. So what style, size and procedure is right for you?

Specialist plastic surgeon Morris Ritz of Melbourne is experienced in the art of breast enhancement, and has been performing augmentation and lift surgery for many years. We look at how to turn your saggy-baggies into super-dupers with a breast enhancement procedure designed to suit you and your body.

Breast Augmentation
More commonly known as a ‘boob job’, breast augmentation can be used to enlarge small breasts, restore breast volume post weight loss or post breastfeeding, even-up asymmetric breasts and reconstruct after mastectomy or injury.

Women who have undergone the procedure say selecting breasts to suit their body has increased their confidence, provided positive body image and made them feel more comfortable within themselves.

Decisions, decisions, decisions
After consultation with specialist plastic surgeon Morris Ritz, you can select from either saline or silicone implants to best suit your body, individual requirements and personal preferences.

He will advise what he feels is the best implant and size for you to give your desired outcome. We prefer to use silicone implants as they give a more natural look shape and feel.

You will also discuss where the implant will be placed; either behind the breast tissue or under the muscle on the chest wall, and where your incision will be; either the armpit, crease beneath the breast or around the areola.

Try before you buy
You will have the opportunity to look at different samples of implants, and try out ‘sizers’, which you can place into your bra to show how different sizes will look. Dr. Ritz offers patients the latest 3D Vectra imaging machine, which takes 3D photographs of you to give you an idea of what enhancing your assets will really look like.

A surgery snapshot
Your specialist surgeon Morris Ritz makes an incision in the location discussed in your pre-operative consultations; either the armpit, crease beneath the breast or around the areola. Behind or in front of the pectoral (chest) muscle, a pocket is made for the implant to be inserted into. A sizer will be inserted first and filled to the desired size. This way we can see what the r body best. From there the sizer is removed and the implant is placed.

  • Breasts sagging onto the lower chest or stomach
  • Downward pointing nipples
  • Enlarged size of the areolas
  • Loss of breast firmness
  • Loss of breast volume (especially following lactation)
  • A drop in self-confidence, self-image and self-esteem

Most commonly known as a breast lift, (mastopexy) is a procedure that lifts the nipple back on top of the breast and increases breast firmness. Many women combine a breast lift with other breast surgery to achieve maximum results.

A surgery snapshot
Your specialist surgeon Morris Ritz makes an incision around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease. Excess fat, tissue and skin are removed and the breast is repositioned. Patients usually stay overnight in hospital, with drainage tubes in for 24-48 hours. Recovery As is the case with breast augmentation, following a breast lift you will need around two weeks off work, with no driving during this time and will be required to wear a special bra for around six weeks.
