06 Jul What is a Mastopexy?
As a woman, your overall physique is accentuated by your unique curves and full breasts—so when they begin to lose shape and volume, your self-confidence may begin to dip. This transformation doesn’t happen overnight though. Through ageing, genetics, pregnancy and major weight fluctuation, the appearance of your breasts begin to change.
When these lifestyle elements begin to alter the shape and volume of your breasts, it may be time to seek a professional breast enhancement. At Melbourne Institute of Plastic Surgery we can create full, shapely and younger-looking breasts to complement your feminine figure. If you have been searching for a way to boost your self-image, a mastopexy may be your solution.
A mastopexy, more commonly referred to as a breast lift, is a cosmetic breast procedure that raises and firms the breasts for a whole new contour. The three main benefits from a breast lift include: No more sagging breasts Reposition of the nipples for a more natural look Younger, perkier contour with firmer breasts
You will begin by coming in for an initial consultation at our office, where you will sit down with Dr Ritz to discuss the procedure. It’s very important to us that you feel comfortable with your decision, so you will be given thorough detail about what happens during the lift and throughout the recovery period.
As with any surgical procedure, there are risks involved, and Dr Ritz will take the necessary time to help you understand your options. Your breasts and entire medical history will then be assessed to create a lift that is unique to you.
On the day of your surgery, you be placed under a general anesthesia. Once asleep, Dr Ritz will make an incision to lift and reshape the underlying tissue. Then, once the breast has been lifted into a more youthful contour, he will reposition the areola. Enlarged areolas will be reduced and excess skin will be removed to better improve your skin’s elasticity.
Recovery and Results
As with any surgical procedure, you can expect some downtime afterward. Initially, you will likely have some swelling and tenderness. The incision lines will be quite noticeable at first, but will fade over time. Strenuous exercise is not recommended for the first 4-6 weeks as you heal, but you will return to a normal lifestyle soon thereafter.
The results from your mastopexy will be immediately apparent, and as the inflammation goes down and incisions fade you will finally achieve that desired look you’ve been searching for.
At Melbourne Institute of Plastic Surgery, we can lift your breasts into a more defined position and give shape to your appearance once again.
