Melbourne blepharoplasty surgery

About Blepharoplasty

Also known as an eyelid lift, blepharoplasty is a surgery performed by Dr Morris Ritz to improve the appearance of your upper and lower eyelids. If reduced elasticity and weakened muscles in your eyelids are making you look tired or aged beyond your years, this procedure can effectively restore youthfulness to your face. An eyelid surgery provides both aesthetic and functional benefits though. Not only can this surgery remove drooping skin and improve puffiness and eye bags, it can also improve vision that has been impaired by saggy skin.

Your First Visit

During an initial consultation, Dr Ritz will take the time necessary to understand your unique concerns. By thoroughly evaluating your eyelids, he will discuss with you the best ways to address your problem areas. We want you to feel totally comfortable about your decision to have eyelid surgery, so Dr Ritz will thoroughly explain the procedure to you and talk about any risks and complications. We understand that undergoing surgery can be a big step and you will likely have many questions.

Melbourne blepharoplasty surgery | 1 Day of Surgery

On the day of surgery, you will meet with Dr Ritz as he draws pre-operative markings on the areas that need to be lifted. You will then speak with the anaesthetist and be placed under a general anaesthetic. Once asleep, incisions will be made conspicuously along the crease of the eyelid to eliminate any visible scarring. Dr Ritz will then remove the excess skin and fat and tighten up the underlying muscle tissue. When you wake up, you will be in recovery room for about two to three hours before being allowed to go home.

Melbourne blepharoplasty surgery | 2 Healing Period

One advantage of undergoing this minimally-invasive procedure is that you get to heal in the comfort of your own home. Initial swelling and tenderness may keep you from noticing the results for a few weeks. But by resting and applying ice, you can reduce the pain and inflammation around your eyes. We will see you for a follow-up appointment one week after your surgery.

Melbourne blepharoplasty surgery | 3 Post-Operative Care

As with any surgical procedure, we suggest limiting your physical activity to ensure proper healing. Heavy lifting and strenuous exercise, as well as driving, are not advised for at least one to two weeks following your eye lift. While limiting your everyday routines can be stressful, allowing yourself the time to properly heal will soon be rewarded with a more refreshed facial appearance.
