Tummy Tuck Photos

Tummy tuck surgery can help you achieve a flat and well-toned abdomen. It involves the surgical removal of excess fat, skin, and tissue from your abdomen. This surgery is a great way to address abdominal fat that doesn’t respond to diet and exercise. It also offers a long-term solution to sagging abdominal skin resulting from major body changes such as pregnancy or significant weight loss. Just below are listed tummy tuck photos of our patients as a proof of how the surgery can improve your abdominal contour.

Ideal candidates for tummy tuck

The best way for you to know if the surgery is right for you is to consult with our experienced and highly skilled plastic surgeon Dr Morris Ritz. In general, you are an ideal candidate for the procedure if:

  • The muscles in your stomach are severely weakened or separated.
  • You are not planning to get pregnant after your surgery.
  • You are willing to commit to a healthy lifestyle after your surgery.
  • You don’t have a bleeding disorder.
  • You don’t have an allergy to the anaesthesia.
  • You don’t smoke.
  • You have a good healing ability.
  • You have excess abdominal skin that appears to sag.
  • You have good physical and mental health.
  • You have realistic expectations for the outcome of your surgery.
  • Your sagging abdominal skin is causing frequent skin irritation.
  • Your weight is stable.

How the surgery is performed

During the procedure, you will receive general anaesthesia. Once your skin is numb, your surgeon will create an incision in your lower abdomen. Excess skin, fat, and tissue will be then removed. Your surgeon will tighten your abdominal muscles and loose skin by pulling them down. If necessary, your surgeon will tighten the skin at your waistline. Once the desired appearance is achieved, your surgeon will then suture the incisions.

Recovery after a tummy tuck

After your surgery, it is normal to experience pain and swelling at the incision site. In most cases, a surgical drain or tube will remain in your skin for 24 to 48 hours. This helps prevent the accumulation of blood and other fluids in the operated area. Once the drains are removed, you will need to wear a compression garment. This provides support to your abdomen and reduces swelling.
